Ceramic Workshop: Practicing to be Alone

Besides being a place to see exhibitions, M+ can also be a place for individual contemplation. Join ceramic artist Lee Wing Yee, who sees life as a practice, to create room for yourself to connect to the present moment through ceramic art with M+ Young Collective. Bring your awareness to the feelings between your fingers and the clay, and take some time for yourself.

Collage Workshop: What's Different about Victoria Harbour Today

The glass windows of M+ are like giant frames of different shapes and sizes, guiding you on how to view the scenery inside and outside. Join artist Wong Pak Hang with M+ Young Collective, known for his keen observation of the city from different angles, to develop a fresh perspective of the people, buildings, and environment by looking through these windows. Using various everyday objects as tools for observation, you will collaborate with others to create a large glass collage inspired by the interesting and subtle details you discover, building your own vision of Victoria Harbour.

Try different ways to communicate besides verbal language in the museum spaces. Join artist Florence Lam and M+ Young Collective to explore the common ground between body and language. You and another person will complete simple and playful tasks together with a set of secret movements that are known only to you both.

Silkscreen Printing Workshop: What Did I See

Come and create your screen-printed postcard with printmaker Chan Yi Ting. You will learn some simple silk screen printing techniques to create a unique postcard that blends different colours, serving as a record of your observations and thoughts at the museum.

M+ UNISON 

Don't miss this chance to discover some of the most exciting new talents on the Hong Kong music scene! UNISON, an organisation dedicated to promoting local music across tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, is inviting three young music groups with unique styles to perform. These groups include MEØWMEØW, known for their strong rhythms and versatile style, the Earth Sojourners, a new generation band that blends alternative rock and funk elements, and Triple G, who delivers laid-back and delicate rap. They will provide a one-of-a-kind summer experience, showcasing their original compositions inspired by observations of daily lives.

Hong Kong as Mise-en-scène

See Hong Kong as you’ve never seen it before in a series of thought-provoking videos that capture the city’s complexities and different faces. Commissioned by M+, the Hong Kong as Mise-en-scène videos showcase the creative visions of local artists. Through an experimental and cinematic lens, these films offer a unique exploration of Hong Kong’s diverse landscapes and identities.

Come and visit the showcase exhibiting the process and works created by the participants of our four-day Creative Day Camp! Two groups of young participants have worked closely with artist instructors Xyza Cruz Bacani and Lo Lai Lai Natalie to reflect on the essence of artistic creations, explore different ways of expressions through various mediums and gain insight into how the themes of the Camps are relevant to our daily lives.

‘Mapping Out a Museum Career’ is back! For those of you who are currently studying or about to enter the workforce, join us to learn about different career paths at M+ through fun activities. You will be matched with young museum professionals at M+, including interns from various teams, a museum educator with ‘slash careers’, and a part-time project assistant who is still a full-time student. They will share their work experiences and personal reflections, providing you with inspiration and insight into potential career paths in the museum industry.
