Restyling Workshop:
Finding Your Personal Style
This workshop is for participants ages 16 or above.
The workshop ticket will include same-day access to all galleries (including Special Exhibition). Please retain a copy of your registration to facilitate your entry to the galleries.
Discover the style that reflects your unique personality, reinventing yourself through mixing and matching everyday outfits and accessories from your wardrobe.
How can we dress well for different occasions while also highlighting our unique style? Song Huai-Kuei, also known as Madame Song, demonstrated her exceptional fashion sense across different occasions in China between 1980s to 1990s: the chief China representative of fashion brand Pierre Cardin; the manager of Maxim’s, the first Western dining establishment in China after the Cultural Revolution; an independent artist; an actress; and more.
In this workshop, fashion stylist Denise Ho will take you on a journey through the Special Exhibition Madame Song: Pioneering Art and Fashion in China. Delve into the notable fashionista’s wardrobe, where you can draw inspiration for daily life, business, and various special occasions. Getting to know more about yourself, you will build a capsule wardrobe and learn various styling tips and timeless fashion elements, enabling you to express yourself through your personal style.
If you are curious about how a certain piece of clothing in your wardrobe can be restyled, feel free to bring a scarf, loose top, or a dress. Denise may use it during the demonstration.
About the Instructor
A designer by training and stylist by trade with 20 years of experience, Rhode Island School of Design graduate Denise Ho has styled for many magazines, celebrities, and major brand campaigns. In the past eight years, Denise has also worked with sustainable fashion brands and nongovernmental organisations to design environmentally conscious garments that follow zero-waste and upcycling techniques, using recycled fabrics. Denise has also judged sustainable fashion competitions thus nurturing new designers. She designed an accessory for stylists and regular clothing wearers alike that could alter the fit and texture of clothing, giving new life to existing pieces instead of buying more.
