In Conversation with The Artists Village:
Collectivity, Solidarity and Networks
Join the pioneering Singaporean art group The Artists Village at M+ to dive into their three-decade-long collective practices in Singapore and beyond.
Founded in 1988 with Amanda Heng, Koh Nguang How, Lee Wen, and Tang Da Wu as the early members, The Artists Village is known for its in-depth engagement with sociohistorical changes in the late 1980s and 1990s, playing a critical role in introducing performance and installation art in the region. Members Koh Nguang How and Bridget Tay will share their experiences of working in an art collective that spans across generations and unpack the ideas of connection and exchanged dynamics among individuals. This program complements the Special Highlight The Artists Village: Time, Sites and Nodes, a guest-curated screening programme at M+ Mediatheque, currently on view till 31 December 2023.
The talk will be moderated by M+ Assistant Curator Ariadne Long and Curatorial Assistant Christine Lee.
