Haegue Yang x Doryun Chong
Seoul and Berlin-based artist Haegue Yang and M+ Deputy Director, Curatorial, and Chief Curator Doryun Chong will discuss the artist’s fascinating multidisciplinary practice.
Haegue Yang’s shapeshifting body of work includes performative sculptures and multisensory installations. She has explored a wide range of topics including history, biography, politics, and science through the lens of abstraction and figuration. In this conversation, Yang will discuss the evolution of her practice and contextualise the research, concept, and processes behind her new work, Sonic Rescue Ropes, on view at Lightwell and Found Space and commissioned by M+.
The talk will be held in English. It will be livestreamed to the Grand Stair at M+ and via this page, Facebook, and YouTube.
About the Artist
Haegue Yang’s multidisciplinary practice articulates powerful narratives that explore history, memory, and cultural significance. Her large-scale installations and participatory sculptures are often composed of everyday objects, such as bells, venetian blinds, industrial fans, and spotlights, and can be activated to evoke an emotional bond with the viewer through their visual, tactile, and acoustic qualities.
