Jockey Club Community Outreach and Arts Education Programmes:
Family Drop-in—Picasso’s Paintbrush

The programme is self-guided, free of charge, and no pre-registration required. It is suitable for children aged 4 or above to participate under the guidance of their parents. Children under the age of 4 will not be admitted.

Participants may be in contact with ink paint during the programme. We recommend participants to bring an apron. Please read 'Event Arrangements' below for details.

Picasso learned to paint at a young age with the encouragement of his family, creating a number of his classic works early on. Later, he drew inspiration from the works of the Chinese painter Qi Baishi and ventured into creating ink paintings featuring plants.

This drop-in family event invites adults and kids to craft a one-of-a-kind paint brush using fun materials like plants and fabric. In addition, participants can have the freedom to experiment with different textures of line using ink and their customised paintbrush.

The event will coincide with the Special Exhibition The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Picasso for Asia—A Conversation at M+, encouraging adults and children to rediscover this significant artist in ways beyond traditional exhibition viewing. By transforming personal inspirations found in Picasso's works into a relaxed hands-on experience, participants can cultivate an artist’s mindset and challenge their own preconceptions.

Exclusively sponsored by Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust under the ‘Jockey Club Community Outreach and Arts Education Programmes’.
