Explore the craftmanship of Guo Pei’s intricate designs through a hands-on haute couture embroidery experience accompanied by a gallery walk-through.

Guo Pei’s work never ceases to attract attention on runways and red carpets, even from afar. When looking closely, one might spend hours appreciating the immaculate detail on the garments – from the countless Swarovski crystals in the Garden of Soul series to the hand-painted silk on The Qing-hua Porcelain piece. Instructors from YLY Studio will guide you into Guo Pei: Fashioning Imagination to zoom in on the minute yet significant details that have underpinned Guo Pei’s works.

After the workshop, participants will be able to identify the techniques of embroidery used in Guo Pei’s works such as beadwork, sequin embroidery, and goldwork. Instructors will then lead participants step by step in performing these skills with their own hands. Participants will leave the workshop with a handmade bag charm perfect for daily use and the festive season. No prior experience in embroidery is required.
