Concrete Moulding Workshop

This event is for participants aged 16 and above.

The workshop ticket will include same-day access to all General Admissions exhibitions and the Special Exhibition I. M. Pei: Life Is Architecture. Please retain your ticket to facilitate your entry to the galleries.

Discover the art of assembling and deconstructing the geometric elements of I. M. Pei’s architectural masterpieces at our Concrete Moulding Workshop.

The workshop will illuminate the intricate geometry that characterises Pei’s signature works, allowing participants to make sense of the structural nuances behind them. We will discover how geometry influences the way buildings look and function, the shapes and forms that underpin Pei’s signature designs, and how one can manipulate these elements when building miniature concrete models.

We will delve into these questions through a hands-on concrete moulding experience followed by a guided tour of I. M. Pei: Life Is Architecture. Participants will be able to examine the use of concrete in practice and explore how Pei’s life and work interact with the unique geopolitics, cultural traditions, and characteristics of cities in which his designs have set foot.

Special note: Since it takes time for concrete to set, participants are welcome to visit the gallery as they wait.
