Yamaha natural sound stereo power amplifier, model NS series B-6Yamaha自然立體聲擴音器,B-6系列NS型
1980
Yamaha’s model B-6 amplifier was designed by GK Design Group, an office founded by Ekuan Kenji in 1957 that was influential in raising public appreciation for industrial design in Japan and abroad. GK Design Group undertook many projects for Yamaha, a leading manufacturer of high-fidelity sound systems, among other products. Instead of the boxy form typical of amplifiers, the B-6 is pyramidal, and its compact size belies its power. Predominantly a single aluminium piece die-cast from a mould it has smooth surfaces and minimalist detailing. The recessed base makes the object appear to float. Smaller than comparable models from the same era, the B-6 resulted from innovations in circuitry that allowed for improved efficiency and a miniaturisation of components.
