Tokujin Yoshioka is fascinated by ’shapeless elements‘ such as light, wind, and sound. Water Block is a dynamic, ethereal piece made of glass cast in a stainless steel mould. Responding to light and movement in the surrounding environment, its surface mimics the rippling contours and reflections of a flowing body of water. Containing tension and turbulence within its seemingly simple form, Water Block strikes a delicate balance between the natural and the manufactured.
