Now and Silver features a luminous white orb at its centre. Hand-painted using mineralised pigments, the circle appears to radiate energy and light. It hangs suspended in a grey chasm painted in Hon’s signature airbrush style, creating the impression of a boundless space. The circle, a recurring theme in Hon’s artistic practice since the late 1960s, gives form to the artist’s investigations into Taoism, spirituality, and phenomenology. ‘It might be you, or me or the him or her other than us,’ Hon described, suggesting that the circle is ever-changing and represents multiple voices constantly in dialogue with each other.
