Ming Wong’s Four Malay Stories pays homage to the work of prolific Malaysian Muslim actor, singer and producer P. Ramlee who made over sixty films in Singapore and Malaysia between the 1950s and 1970s. Wong plays sixteen roles, both male and female, from four well-known films in multiple languages, focusing on scenes that explore the subtle relationships between men and women, some of which are now subject to censorship in contemporary Malaysia.
