The sculpture depicts a crying young boy in a blue Mao suit. The boy holds a ‘little red book’—a handbook of Chairman Mao’s quotations and a symbol of the Cultural Revolution—with a pink rose bookmarked in between. This work is an iconic representation of Gaudy Art in China during the mid-1990s
