The National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a memorial to the Republic of China's national father, Dr Sun Yat-sen and has become one of the landmark in Taipei. It is also generally seen as Wang Dahong’s most iconic project. The Taiwanese government began planning memorial hall in 1964. A year later, the government invited several architectural firms, including Dahong Wang & Associates, to enter an architecture design competition. Even though Wang's design was selected, he still experienced many challenges during the design and construction process. One of the reasons was that then-president, Chiang Kai-shek, preferred the roof design to reflect a style similar to the Qing Dynasty palace, mimicking a similar situation with the competition submission for National Palace Museum in 1961. This series includes photographs and negatives of floor plans, an architectural model, and the completed building.
This series is part of the Architectural projects undertaken by Dahong Wang & Associates.
