Drawings and photographic materials, Jardine House (1971–1973), Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong 香港中環康樂廣場怡和大廈(1971至1973年)繪圖及影像資料

This series consists of 582 drawings and forty-six transparencies for Connaught Centre project. The building, located at Connaught Place, was constructed in 1973. It was designed by James Hajime Kinoshita and once became the tallest building in Asia. As Jardine, Matheson & Company has moved in and become the leading tenant, it was renamed as Jardine House in 1989.

The fifty-two-storey skyscraper was constructed with a metal frame and curtain walls with circular windows, which is the most distinctive feature of the building. The iconic windows help to reduce the thickness of the metal frame and provide a column-free office space.

Drawings covering the construction, alteration, and addition are included in the series, which show the building in its original design and the later modifications. The outer wall is originally composed of mainly mosaic materials and concrete, later replaced by aluminium cladding since 1982.

Palmer & Turner project number: 1028.
