This series comprises approximately 492 items on comedies mainly produced in Hong Kong between the 1940s and 1990s.

This series consists of posters, stills, synopses, and other ephemera, revealing that this important genre were not bound by any established conventions or codes by means of which slapstick and farces with vulgar and humorous style are commonly found. Some of the most classic movies in the series include Save Your Water Supply (1954) showing hardships, generosity as well as kindness of living in poverty in Hong Kong, Tales of the City (1954) diverting the plot from banality through the use of a nonlinear narrative structure with a skillful touch, The Battle of Love (1957) written by one of the major 20th writers, Eillen Chang, and The Diary of a Husband, Part Two (1964) portraying the emergence of white-collar economy via the cat-and-mouse game between the male and the female characters. This series is arranged chronologically, according to the dates of release in Hong Kong.
This series is part of the Lambert Yam and Ruby Yang Collection.
