Buena Vista Social Club

Filmmaker Wim Wenders follows musician and Paris, Texas (1984) composer Ry Cooder on his quest to assemble a group of legendary Cuban musicians he has long admired. At the time of filming, the likes of Ibrahim Ferrer, Eliades Ochoa, Omara Portuondo, and Compay Segundo are already in their 70s and 80s, but they are still healthy enough to perform and record. Their collaboration results in a spectacular album and concerts outside of Cuba, reigniting the world’s interest in the island country’s music. Featuring live performances and interviews, Wenders’s documentary paints a heartwarming picture of these passionate artists who have never wavered from their craft.
