Remember What I Forgot

Hong Kong film buff Lil’ Kim (Philip Keung) knows everything about filmmaking and always attends shoots and premieres. However, due to Alzheimer’s disease, he starts to become forgetful in everyday life and can only rely on his younger brother (Endy Chow) to help run their appliance repair shop.

Lil’ Kim’s quirky behaviour raises suspicions in reality show producer Ginger (Fish Liew), who believes he might be a film critic out to make money with harsh criticism. Pretending to be a friend to get closer to Lil’ Kim and his family, Ginger gradually uncovers his secrets and sorrows. With this sincere comedy, director Chui Tze Yiu pays tribute to Hong Kong cinema and the phenomenon that there are always ‘goofy fans’ who support films, whether they are classics or ‘so bad, they’re good’.

The screening on 4 January will be followed by a talk in Cantonese with director Chui Tze Yiu, moderated by M+ Curator-at-large of Hong Kong Film and Media Li Cheuk-to.
