Si So Mi Hsin Hsin Joss Paper Store Series Room 004
A riotous and magical celebration of life and death, Si So Mi Hsin Hsin Joss Paper Store Series Room 004 continues to expand Taiwanese artist Zhang Xu Zhan’s works of creative imagery by recollecting scenes from his childhood memories.
Inspired by his family’s century-old business of joss-paper making, Zhang Xu’s contemporary depiction of traditional craft and belief features a band of handmade paper mice who sing and orchestrate a musical celebration while romping through a delicately handcrafted forest. Accompanied by a singsong tune adapted from a German folk song, this whimsical stop-motion animation illustrates a festive tribute to rituals and folkcraft.
