Night on the Galactic Railroad
Director and artist Gisaburo Sugii’s charming animation follows the journey of a young blue cat named Giovanni, who embarks on a celestial adventure to the end of the universe on a mysterious space locomotive. This dreamlike narrative follows Giovanni and his friend Campanella as they encounter many unusual and surreal sights: fellow travelers who seem to appear out of thin air; million-year-old walnuts buried in stardust; abandoned villages; magical apples; and infinite fields of corn or flowers. Based on a novel of the same name by Kenji Miyazawa, this ethereal and melancholic tale brings audiences touching life lessons.
