Vagabond Truths:
The Films of Priya Sen
New Delhi-based filmmaker and artist Priya Sen works with different forms of nonfiction to consider the social, political, and personal spaces within which contemporary experience is so often tenuously grounded. In her films, acts of witnessing, framing, and documenting are conscious and performative—with words, sounds, and glances heightening the existing tension, ambiguity, and dissonance in urban life. This programme presents two of her widely acclaimed films, Noon Day Dispensary (2014) and Yeh Freedom Life (2019), both which deftly explore marginality, subjectivity, and identity politics in their intimate observations of people dealing with states of flux.
