American filmmaker Terry Zwigoff profiles underground comix pioneer Robert Crumb in this candid 1994 documentary. Best known for his unconventional drawings and provocative subject matter, Crumb reveals his family history, his love of old blues records, and all the eccentricities in line with his bizarre creations.

Featuring a cast of colourful real-life characters including Crumb’s closest family members, ex-lovers, critics, and peers, Zwigoff’s Sundance Film Festival hit gives audience an intimate look at the disturbing yet captivating details of what makes Crumb such an influential artist.

About the Director

Terry Zwigoff (b. 1949, United States) is an American director, producer, writer, and composer who began his filmmaking career with Howard Armstrong's documentary Louie Bluie (1985). He garnered attention with the critically acclaimed Crumb (1994), which went on to win the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, among other notable awards. Zwigoff then turned to directing fiction features, such as the Academy Award–nominated Ghost World (2001) and black comedy Bad Santa (2003).
